In mythology, a chimera is a blend of two different species (or genders). In literature, chimeras were dangerous and deceptive. I have chosen to use this as the image, because I am chimerical in my use of space, and find myself drawn to chimerical places, which blend different use patterns and meaning. I will be exploring the character of two landscapes: one in Massachusetts and one in Vermont, and comparing the way they reflect our use of and attitudes toward our places.
